Xbox One X pre-orders are up! If you missed out on the Xbox One X Project Scorpio, good news: You can now preorder the standard console! Also: Paul goes hands-on with the Xbox One X. "We have a runner!" More gaming giddiness: Minecraft cross-platform is finally real. Related: Phil Spencer is now an Exec VP and member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Mary Jo has a scoop on Surface device announcements, so let's talk about what we expect, and when. Related: Mixed Reality event in October.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update continues its long wind-down with build 16291. Surprise! It has one new feature. The controversy of the week: Microsoft says there are 330 million Microsoft Edge users. There are not. More MS Fall Creators Update claims, re: battery life, boot time (the "fundamentals").

Mobile: now Google's next Pixel handsets have leaked too.  The bad news: Google is pulling a Microsoft.

iOS 11 is out and it shows that it will be hard for Apple to turn iPad Pro into a Surface competitor. Related: Microsoft was there first, but Apple (or Google) will popularize it. This is a tough turnaround for Microsoft.

• Tip of the week: You need to go mesh for your next Wi-Fi network
• App pick of the week: Forza Motorsport 7 Demo
• Enterprise pick of the week: Windows 10 1803 will be getting more auto investigation/response security features.
• Codename pick of the week: Honolulu
• Beer pick of the week: Cigar City Maduro Oatmeal Brown
