Meet the This Week in Space Hosts

Rod Pyle

Rod Pyle is a renowned space historian, journalist, television producer, and Editor-in-Chief of Ad Astra magazine. He has authored or co-authored 19 acclaimed books on space exploration and history, including:

  • Interplanetary Robots
  • Blueprint for a Battlestar
  • Amazing Stories of the Space Age
  • First on the Moon
  • Destination Mars

Pyle's writing has appeared in Space.com, LiveScience, WIRED, Caltech, JPL, and Popular Science, cementing his role as a leading voice in space commentary. He co-developed the Apollo Leadership Experience for NASA's Johnson Space Center and has produced and directed content for Discovery Networks and The History Channel. His consulting work includes collaborations with Disney+ and National Geographic TV.

With a background in sci-fi visual effects for iconic projects like Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Pyle bridges the worlds of science, imagination, and honest exploration. He is frequently featured on national television and radio as an expert on space-related topics such as NASA, private spaceflight, and the future of space travel.

Tariq Malik

Tariq Malik is the Editor-in-Chief of Space.com and has been covering space news, astronomy, and human spaceflight for over two decades. He began at Space.com as an intern and staff writer in 2001, became Managing Editor in 2009, and rose to Editor-in-Chief in 2019, leading one of the most trusted publications in space journalism.

Before joining Space.com, Malik reported for The Los Angeles Times, covering education and city news across Southern California. His lifelong passion for space began early—he attended Space Camp, earned the Space Exploration merit badge as an Eagle Scout, and later earned journalism degrees from New York University (NYU) and the University of Southern California (USC).

Today, Malik is a sought-after voice in discussions of space, including NASA policy, commercial spaceflight, astronomy breakthroughs, and the cultural impact of space exploration.
