Windows on ARM, Bing Wins Google's Auction

  • Windows 10
  • Finally a bit of news about Windows 10 on Arm
  • The new Windows 10 Dev Channel build has a new storage notification. (Plus some Your Phone updates coming)
  • Windows 10 version 2004 is now on 33.7 percent of all PCs, almost in first place (!)
  • Windows XP source code leaks again
  • Related: Chredge is getting a web screenshot feature (for some reason)

  • Microsoft 365 + Cloud
  • It wasn't a good start of the week for O365. Big worldwide outage due to AD authentication issues
  • Stream users are going to migrate soon
  • Microsoft is building a "telco-grade" cloud
  • Bing comes on strong for the second round of Google's auction screen on Android

  • Xbox
  • Games with Gold for October
  • Xbox Game Pass for the first half of October
  • EA Play on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate coming November 10
  • The first Xbox Series S/X storage expansion card is going to cost you
  • Amazon takes on Stadia, Game Pass Cloud Streaming with Luna

  • Tip of the week: Never lose a file with OneDrive. With everyone working from home, one useful OneDrive feature is suddenly even more important
  • App pick of the week: Xbox Family Settings. This new mobile app can help you keep track of, and control, your kids' game time.
  • Enterprise pick of the week: Dynamics 365 2020 Wave 2. October 1 is the day that the set of Wave 2 features for the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform set of products begins rolling out. Microsoft is holding an online event to discuss some of these from 9-11 am PT on Oct. 1: https://twitter.com/maryjofoley/status/1310967954897596423
  • Codename pick of the week: Luna. It's an Amazon codename. But it's also the codename for the XP UI. Paul has a little story about this.
  • Beer pick of the week: Burial Beer Invocation on the River of Laments. Another Asheville pick in honor of Paul's visit. This brewery makes a number of excellent styles, including a Doppelbock called Invocation on the River of Laments. "The finished product is full of dark fruit basket, pumpernickel, roasted pecan and saltine." 7% and only 22 IBUs so not hoppy. Nice for Octoberfest fans.
