Centurylink claims they can't defraud customers because they have no customers.

Let's say that your company is caught over-billing, false-charging and otherwise defrauding millions of its customers. You could apologize and promise to make amends agree to a special 3rd-party investigation to get to the bottom of the fraud... or, if you're CenturyLink, you could just claim that you don't actually HAVE any customers, and therefore it was impossible for you to defraud them.
