Building Your Own Amazon Echo with a Raspberry Pi:

  • Parts: Raspberry Pi (Model 3 or Model 2), Micro USB cable and power adapter, 8 GB or larger Micro SD, USB MicSpeaker, Keyboard, and Mouse
  • Amazon Developer Services site: https://developer.amazon.com
  • Web Settings:
  1. Allowed Origins: https://localhost:3000
  2. Allowed Return: URL's https://localhost:3000/authresponse
  • Terminal Commands - Install Alexa:
  1. cd Desktop
  2. git clone https://github.com/alexa/alexa-avs-sample-app.git
  3. cd ~/Desktop/alexa-avs-sample-app
  4. nano automated_install.sh
  • Fill in the fields with the information from your Developer account.
  1. Hit CTRL X to save
  2. cd ~/Desktop/alexa-avs-sample-app
  3. . automate_install.sh
  • Run Alexa Service:
  1. cd ~/Desktop/alexa-avs-sample-app/samples
  2. cd companionService && npm start
  • Run Sample App to Confirm Account:
  1. cd ~/Desktop/alexa-avs-sample-app/samples
  2. cd javaclient && mvn exec:exec
  • Start Wake Word:
  1. cd ~/Desktop/alexa-avs-sample-app/samples
  2. cd wakeWordAgent/src && ./wakeWordAgent -e kitt_ai
