Video Feeds to be Consolidated for All TWiT.tv Podcasts- UPDATED
As of July 1, 2020, we will discontinue Video LO and Video HI formats for all of our podcasts, so each podcast has a single video feed — HD — in addition to audio/MP3.
With the wide availability of broadband Internet, we are finding that fewer people subscribe to the lower resolution video feeds. We began this transition in March 2020. You can read more about it on this past blog post.
Starting on May 1st, we expanded the change to our short-format shows, including Ask The Tech Guy, Hands-On Photography, Hands-On Tech; TWiT News, TWiT Events, and TWiT Bits.
On June 11th, we added All About Android, FLOSS Weekly, Smart Tech Today, Tech News Weekly, and This Week in Enterprise Tech.
The last phase of this change will take place on July 1 and include the remaining podcasts: This Week in Tech, Security Now, Windows Weekly, The Tech Guy, MacBreak Weekly, This Week in Google, and iOS Today.
If you are subscribed to the LO or HI video formats, your podcatcher will automatically redirect to the HD video feed so you won't need to take any action.
New shows that began in 2020 launched with audio and HD video versions only. TWiT is unique within the podcast industry since we produce video versions; even so, 80% of our downloads are audio. Consolidating video formats helps us streamline operations and continue to improve your listening and viewing experience.
