Reddit has raised $50 million in a Series B round of funding which puts the so-called "front page of the internet" a $500 million valuation.. but here's a twist, the company plans to give back 10 percent of the round’s equity to the community. The company hasn’t specifically described how this will be done, but Reddit CEO Yishan Wong says he's thinking about creating a cryptocurrency to be shared with Reddit members, and that Reddit investors have explicitly agreed to this in their investment terms. Wong does say this is still an early-stage effort, though. Reddit currently gets 5 billion monthly page views and 115 million uniques each month. According to the company blog post, the funding will go toward staff expansion for product development, community management, and better tools around moderation and community.
