Tip: Track Your Steps and Keep Your Phone Charged While Playing Pokémon Go
On MacBreak Weekly 515, Rene Ritchie had a tip for getting the most out of your time playing Pokémon Go. Since the game requires that you go walk around to pick up items and catch Pokémon, it pays off to have a good step tracking app. Rene recommends Pedometer++ by Cross Forward Consulting, LLC. This app runs in the background and keeps a tally of your steps. It uses color coding to keep track of your daily and weekly progress. You can view your progress from the app, Today View widget, or the Apple Watch app.
The other thing about Pokémon Go is that it uses a lot of power. Your phone's screen will be on, it uses your GPS and LTE. Having a backup battery is important, and Rene uses the Mophie Powerstation Duo. This has two USB ports on it and can charge two devices simultaneously. It can even charge an iPad. It has a capacity of 6,000mAh, which can provide up to four complete battery charges for most smartphone devices.
- Get Pedometer++ in the iOS App Store (Free)
- Buy the Mophie Powerstation Duo on Amazon ($54.99)
