iOS Pick: Overcast 3.0

Rene Ritchie's pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly 547 is Overcast 3.0 by Marco Arment. This has been a great podcast app for some time, and specializes in audio-only shows. It has just been updated to 3.0, which is a big change, mostly for the design and flow of the interface.

Overcast 3.0 uses a 'card' metaphor now, where things slide up similar to the Apple Music app. It brings more functionality to the forefront instead of relying on hidden gestures or first tapping 'edit' buttons. There's also a manual playlist in addition to the automatic one, and you can add things to it from anywhere in the interface. The model of the app has changed too: it's now ad-supported instead of using Patreon. A yearly purchase of $9.99 will remove the ads.
