Hardware Pick: Wireless Sensor Tags

Adam Engst's pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly 531 is the Wireless Sensor Tag. It's a little white plastic square device that detects motion, temperature, humidity, door open and close events, and more. You can set it up so that it will send an alert to your phone if the sensor tag detects something that's out of range.

Wireless Sensor Tags are very configurable and customizable with the app. It can be set to trigger other devices in the home, such as WeMo switches/bulbs, Honeywell WiFi thermostats, Nest thermostats, and Dropcams. There's also a Wireless Tag IFTTT channel so it can work with many more devices. It also gets over a year of battery life.

There are a variety of different types of tags, but you'll need the Tag Manager for $49 first. The other tags then range in price from $21 to $39 depending on what you need.
