Ren Bucholz

Ren Bucholz is an associate at Lenczner Slaght.

Ren's diverse commercial litigation practice ranges from high tech and intellectual property disputes, to insurance and professional liability matters. He represents clients in a variety of venues, including the Superior Court, Divisional Court, Court of Appeal for Ontario, and Federal Court, as well as coroner's inquests, international arbitrations, and administrative tribunals.

With an extensive background in digital communication policy, Ren has a special interest in disputes involving new technology and defamation. Ren's clients in these areas include established international technology companies, new businesses, non-governmental organizations, and individuals.

Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght, Ren clerked for the judges of the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has published academic and popular articles on intellectual property, file sharing and electronic voting. He spent several years representing a non-governmental organization at the World Intellectual Property Organization – a specialized agency of the United Nations based in Geneva – and at various technology standards organizations around the globe. Ren served as a Google Policy Fellow while completing graduate work on competition law, technology standards and intellectual property.
