Brett Gaylor

Brett Gaylor is a Director at the Mozilla Foundation, where he helps helm the current encryption education campaign. He also oversees Mozilla’s Open Web Fellows program, which places open source technologists and activists at leading nonprofits like Amnesty International and ACLU. Brett directed the web series “Do Not Track ,” a documentary exploring privacy and the web economy.

A note: Brett approaches the open source world from an advocacy angle, not a technical angle. He’s more comfortable discussing his open projects — Mozilla’s encryption campaign and the Ford-Mozilla Open Web Fellows — through that prism. For example, Brett is comfortable chatting about the need for open source technologists and activists rather than, say, the technical aspects of encryption or the legal details of the Apple case.
