How iOS Today Came to Be

2010 was a monumental year for Apple — and the entire tech industry — with the launch of the iPad. The same year, TWiT.tv network founder Leo Laporte launched iPad Today.

As the popularity of the iPhone and iPad exploded, more Apple devices and apps hit the market. Leo and co-hosts explored the variety of tools and functionalities and shared their expertise on iPad Today. The podcast was selected as one of the "Best of 2010 in Podcasts" by iTunes Rewind. In 2013, it was nominated in the Best Video Podcast category of the People's Choice Podcast Awards. In 2015, the podcast was expanded to cover everything iOS and renamed iOS Today.

In 2019, Leo recruited tech journalist/podcaster Mikah Sargent to join him as iOS Today co-host, and the unlikely pair didn't miss a beat. They hosted the show together for a year and a half, including the difficult pandemic year of 2020.

In 2021, Leo handed the show off to Mikah and Rosemary Orchard. She had been a frequent TWiT.tv guest who is a software developer and productivity/automation expert. Mikah and Rosemary carry on Leo's tradition of delivering useful information in a friendly conversational style that anyone can enjoy.

Mikah Sargent joined the TWiT Podcast Network in July 2019. He currently appears on three weekly podcasts on the TWiT network — iOS Today, Tech News Weekly, and Smart Tech Today. He also produces three other shows hosted by Leo Laporte. Rosemary Orchard is an iOS automation expert. She is a bottomless well of ideas that can improve anyone's workflow, and her knowledge of iOS apps knows no bounds. She is an experienced developer with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry. Rosemary is from the U.K. and has lived all over the world. After a stint in Vienna, Austria, she's now back home and works as a developer for the Technische Universität Wien. She loves discovering new apps and finding creative ways to use them.
