Megan Morrone and Jason Howell talk to Iain Thomson from The Register about how Unroll.me is heartbroken that we discovered they were selling the contents of our email accounts to Uber. Over the weekend Mike Issac from The New York Times published a piece on Uber's CEO Travis Kalanick. Isaac recounts several stories about the CEO, including an in-person meeting with Tim Cook where the Apple CEO threatened to remove Uber from the app store for identifying and tagging iPhones. It's a great read with many buried tidbits, including the fact that a service called Unroll.me, that I have recommended in the past, sold users information to Uber. The irony is the Unroll.me was a service designed to help you remove yourself from email newsletters, clean up spam, and generally protect your privacy.
