Part of the secret of Uber's success, beyond running roughshod over regulations, is its algorithm. So not surprising that they keep it very secret. So much so that it is hard to know if how much of a cut Uber is taking from what you pay and what the drivers get. Some suspect they've lengthened the time between when the end of a ride and when a driver sees what they earn from that ride in order to keep drivers and passengers from comparing. Alison Griswold, reporter at Quartz, has done some digging into this.
