Tip: Official Email Apps to Use for Outlook.com

Paul Thurrott's tip of the week on Windows Weekly 465 is if you're using Windows Live 2012 for Outlook.com, you'll need to find a new email application. As Outlook.com is being migrated to the Office 365 based backend, this Windows Live Mail app that dates back to Outlook Express, won't work anymore. You can still use the Outlook app that's included in Microsoft Office, the Mail app built into Windows 10, or the web interface.

There's also an easy way to find out if you have the new Outlook.com. Just look at the top of the app, and if it says "Outlook Mail," you have the new one. If it still just says "Outlook.com," you have the older one.
