Gaming Pick: Gears of War 4

Paul Thurrott's pick on Windows Weekly 487 was Gears of War 4. Gears of War was created by Epic, and they did a trilogy with most of the games being an Xbox exclusive. They remastered the first one for Xbox One last year, and that came out well. Those games got repetitive and monotonous over time, though.

Gears of War is owned by Microsoft now, and there's a new studio doing it called "The Coalition." It's a beautiful game, and the presentation is amazing with a very immersive feel. Paul doesn't think they do enough with it to make it fresh, however. There are five acts, and in the final act he says the gameplay changes completely. All of the things that were hard to beat before, you can just blow away like nothing. Paul finds it really fun because it's so different, and he hopes they will do more of that in the future.

Gears of War 4 is an Xbox Play Anywhere game so if you buy it digitally you can play it on Xbox One and Windows 10. It just came out earlier this week and costs $99.99.
