Social Tip: Tweet Citation Generator

Twitter Bird

Tweet2Cite.com is a free online utility by web developer Ben Hedlund that will automatically convert tweets to properly formatted MLA and APA citations. This is a quick and efficient way to reference tweets when writing academic papers.

The process is simple: Just paste a link to the tweet into the generator, click "go", and out comes the proper reference format for use in a formal paper. It's especially helpful when citing multiple tweets.

People will be pointing to things that are said or shared on Twitter as long as it's around, especially as more people and organizations use it to make official statements. Twitter has become a knowledgebase, and it should be formally referenced.
