Rene Ritchie's pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly 404 is the new djay version 2.5 by Algoriddim. djay has always done a great job of bringing your iTunes music into a DJ mixing environment on iPad or iPhone. Now Algoriddim has partnered with Spotify, giving you access to 20 million songs as long as you have a Spotify premium account.
Suddenly having 20 million tracks available can make finding the next track to mix a difficult task, though. Especially if you haven't heard many of the songs before. That's why Djay has introduced a new feature in version 2.5 -- Match. Djay uses an algorithm to recommend tracks that will mix together well with the song you're currently playing. It even has an automix feature, so you could set it up at a party and have it automatically find and mix songs with Dj-style, beat-matched transitions.
It's easy to share your set list as a Spotify playlist through Spotify via SMS, Email, Facebook, and Twitter. Users will then be able to see your set list and instantly listen to any the tracks as well. To get the most of the new capabilities in Djay 2.5, you will need a Spotify Premium account. If you don't have a Spotify Premium account, you will still be able to use Djay with your personal iTunes collection.
